Cooling the battery in hot weather while unplugged – The Global Tofay

Cooling the battery in hot weather while unplugged - The Global Tofay Global Today
We are going to have our driveway replaced, which means no access to the garage or L2 charger for 4 weeks. I’ll be parking the Volt in a neighbor’s driveway, sometimes in the shade. But, here in sunny central California, we are having many days of 100-114 degrees F. While in the garage, plugged in, I often hear the A/C running to cool the traction battery. Last year, I was forced to leave the Volt in an outdoor airport lot for 2 weeks, also in >100 F, and returned to find the 12V dead, but the high voltage battery apparently OK.

I’ll be using public charging stations and ICE for driving.

1. Any suggestions for protecting the battery, unplugged, while sitting outdoors, in the 100-115F heat?
2. Could I try an extension cord from the house to use the OE L1 charging equipment?

Many thanks.
