Manchester United have entered talks to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney, but he prefers to join Chelsea before the transfer window closes.
The Red Devils have already signed one striker in Joshua Zirkzee this summer, but they are aiming to add more quality into their ranks.
The club have opened initial talks with the Bees for the 28-year-old, but The Independent claim that Toney is likely to turn down their proposal.
Toney has his sights on moving across west London to the Blues. Enzo Maresca seems prepared to guarantee him regular playing time.
Brentford were asking for more than £50 million earlier in the summer, but they are now hopeful of receiving around £40m for a transfer.
Toney has also been linked with Saudi giants Al Ahli, but he has the preference to continue in the Premier League with the Blues.
Chelsea are also admirers of Victor Osimhen, but they are likely to sign Toney instead, having failed to agree terms with the former.
